I've added the value of the bin underneath the cursor to the status bar. Both the value and height fields go blank when the cursor is outside the range of the sweep being displayed. The value is not interpolated when smoothing is turned on, it still shows the value of the underlying bin.

I also fixed the glitch in reflectivity smoothing where thin gray lines formed a "halo" around the edges of bins.

Looks great! I'm amazed at how nice your smoothing routine is -- clearly better than software I run at the office which costs mucho dinero!

Makes the BWER on the southwest Iowa storm really stand out.

I think the advantage of my smoothing method is that I draw each and every bin with valid data. I don't use a rectangular sampling grid. The data is in radial format, so I sample it radially. That makes it fully zoomable. The downside is that it consumes lots of memory. Fortunately, even el cheapo graphics cards today can handle the hundreds of thousands of textured vertices in a fraction of a second. My old 400MHz Celeron test machine with an ancient ATI Radeon can draw a smoothed velocity display at over 100 frames per second.

Does your work machine with the RageXL draw the smoothed 0.5deg velocity display correctly? I know it doesn't support the nonsmooth low-tilt velocity because of a texture limitation but I wonder whether it has similar vertex buffer limitations.

Anyway, I'm not entirely satisfied with the smoothing. It still doesn't support storm motion yet and the edge effects aren't as nice as I'd like. However, I may have come up with a solution yesterday that would cut the memory usage in half while retaining full zooming.

Smoothing does allow the velo & SW to display on the work machine now!
